The rollout, from proposal to day-to-day operations.

Problem

IT ran reactively. There was no central view of endpoint health, no ticket queue for requests, and server patching was manual work. Moving to proactive operations meant getting a management platform onto the organization's machines, and that started with getting ownership on board.

Approach

  • Made the case. Pitched a remote monitoring and management (RMM) platform to ownership and got the go-ahead for a company-wide rollout.
  • Discovery first. Used Active Directory discovery to identify the endpoints that needed an agent.
  • Deployed without desk visits. Pushed the agent out through Group Policy instead of installing it machine by machine.
  • Connected security. Integrated the EDR platform through its API, so security data sits alongside device management.
  • Built operations on top. Launched IT ticketing so requests have a queue and a history, and automated server patching with PowerShell.

Stack

  • RMM platform
  • Active Directory
  • Group Policy
  • EDR (API integration)
  • IT ticketing
  • PowerShell

Outcome

IT moved from reacting to running a documented, proactive operation. Endpoints report into one platform, requests land in a queue with a history, and server patching runs through PowerShell automation.
